Sonoma County Supervisors present Gold Resolution to RCCS on the occasion of our 40th anniversary

Resolution of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma, State of California, Recognizing And Celebrating The 40th Anniversary of River To Coast Children’s Services

Whereas, River to Coast Children’s Services (RCCS) has been operating for 40 years as a resource and referral agency serving west Sonoma County and bringing in over two million dollars each year in contracts and grants. These dollars have been invested in over 500 community children and families. Assisting about 800 families between 2011-2016 with finding and funding childcare and supporting small West County businesses, in the form of payments to childcare providers for that service; and

Whereas, RCCS has substantially impacted the quality of childcare available by making funding available to educate childcare providers on all area of child development and health and safety, mentoring one-on-one, providing additional training and equipment along with a myriad of resources. Totaling 429 visits to providers in 2015-2016; and

Whereas, developing vibrant and growing programs such as Kindergym to support early literacy and appropriate development for our youngest citizens, serving 255 children in 2015. Strengthening families by providing networking options and developing advocacy skills to 195 parents through Kindergym, 10 PPP Members, and participation in seasonal events. Also providing affordable counseling services for children in the Guerneville office; and

Whereas, as part of the Resources and Referral Program, RCCS offers food and other basic needs items to approximately 242 families each year, helping mitigate hunger and address the nutritional needs of young children living in the Russian River corridor; and

Whereas, providing for the safety of 165 children through a Car Safety Seat Program and swim lessons for 350 community members during the period 2011-2016; and

Whereas, addressing the needs of West County children and developing resources including participating in local community resources groups, RCCS is active in a holiday gift program, bicycle safety, Growing Readers and iRead Program.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Sonoma recognizes and celebrates 40 Years of River to Coast Children’s Services in bringing enhancement to the lives of the West County community.
